Mold Remediation with SERVPRO

8/30/2024 (Permalink)

Colage of multiple phases of a mold remediation project. We look forward to making mold damage in your home or business "Like it never even happened."

The mold remediation process depends on several determining factors: the amount of mold present in the property, what types of surfaces the mold has contaminated, and what areas of the property have been, or not have been, contaminated.

Prior to the mold remediation process, containment procedures are considered and performed to prevent cross-contamination to unaffected parts of the building. In addition to containment, HEPA filtered negative air machines are installed to control the air quality within the work area and to protect both property owners and workers. Air scrubbers and HEPA filtered vacuums are used regularly in mold remediation projects.

Antifungal and antimicrobial treatments are used to eliminate mold colonies and help prevent new colonies from forming. Porous building materials that have been infested by mold are carefully removed and disposed of. These materials may include drywall, flooring, or insulation.

Furniture and personal items are cleaned by SERVPRO® professionals. Industry-leading techniques are used during this process and our team is also trained to remove and eliminate odors caused by the presence of mold.

Once the affected areas are cleaned, dried, and necessary building materials are removed, repairs can be made, and the property is returned to its previous condition.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County looks forward to making the mold damage to your home or commercial property "Like it never even happened."

SERVPRO Is the Answer for Mold Remediation in Dublin

Mold Damage Cleanup for Your Dublin Residence

Have you discovered mold in your home? You might panic at first, especially since mold can create health effects. However, with the right help, you can have a clean, safe home again in a short amount of time.

Professionals best handle mold damage remediation in your Dublin residence. At SERVPRO, we have the training and tools to help you clean up the mold infestation and keep it from coming back to the affected area.

There are five principles for restoring mold-contaminated buildings that SERVPRO techs follow. First, we protect the health of you and our workers. Some safety work practices prevent our staff from exposure as they are disturbing the mold during cleanup. Other practices stop the mold from spreading to areas of your residence that are still clean.

We also record conditions in your home, like the extent of the contamination and how much moisture saturation is present. After remediation is complete, we may have an independent environment professional record that the mold in the structure has returned to normal conditions.

We try to ensure that we keep the mold contamination from getting airborne and spreading to clean rooms of your home. We may place negative air machines during drywall demolition to lower how much airborne mold is circulated. We can set up this process with containment measures like plastic sheeting to further isolate the work area from the clean rooms of your home.

After the fungi have developed large colonies with possible staining, the best solution is to remove the excess contamination. We can do this by taking out the materials which the mold has damaged, by wiping soiled surfaces with a damp cloth and cleaning products, and vacuuming the excess mold spores with into HEPA filters. Controlled tear-outs are the last option since we try to restore and not replace structural elements.

Our SERVPRO crew can fix the moisture source if it is minor. If not, another contractor would be needed to prevent persistent moisture that is an essential step to dealing with mold. The best cleanup and antifungal spraying may not keep the mold from returning if your home still has a moisture problem.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County makes it our goal to leave your home in Jaffrey, Walpole, or Rindge in the state it was before the mold attack, "Like it never even happened." We can thoroughly clean and restore your structure when you give us a call at (603) 352-7251.

Excess Moisture Can Spell Mold Trouble For Your Dublin Home

Call us to protect your home from mold damage caused by leaks, drips, and past flooding events.

Extensive Mold Damage Caused By Water Seeping In And Activating Tiny Microbes In Dublin Homes

Every home in the Dublin area holds many different microbes. Some of these can potentially cause health effects while others rarely cause any problems at all. Others only become in need of the homeowner's attention after specific changes occur in the home's environment. A common one is water that appears in locations that should always remain dry. These situations include sudden events like flooding or water leaks and drips along feed lines to appliances.

Either situation can cause significant mold damage in your Dublin home. Not all mold in a home comes from the same strain or variety, either. However, all types of mold require the presence of available water to remain in an active state. Stripping mold of its access to water causes it to revert to a dormant state and discontinue growing. SERVPRO professionals receive training and learn that shutting or sealing off sources of water and preventing mold from gaining future access helps prevent future outbreaks of mold growth.

When we begin the process of remediating mold damage, we remove any water in the area and locate the source so we can eliminate it from the area. We use infrared imaging devices that detect hidden water, so we quickly find it, and we also use moisture meters to determine the amount of moisture contained in walls and other materials. With these instruments, we can accurately determine the situation and provide the homeowner with more information about the situation. Once we complete our remediation work, we check for the presence of water again to ensure that the repairs corrected all sources of water.

Removing the mold through different methods often requires a chamber, which we quickly build. These chambers help produce a negative pressure containment area around the mold damaged section of your home. We may need to build more than one of these when mold appears in several areas within a property. Highly effective at containing dust, debris, and mold that might contaminate other areas, we bag up anything that leaves the chamber in doubled bags. We increase the chamber's effectiveness by using HEPA filters on our air scrubbers and vacuums.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County also provides mold damage remediation services to those in Walpole, Fitzwilliam, and Troy. Call us at (603) 352-7251 to protect your home from mold damage caused by leaks, drips, and past flooding events.

The Mold Damage Experience in Dublin Should Not Be So Stressful If You Observe This

8/5/2018 (Permalink)

Remediating mold is a task best left to professionals. Contact SERVPRO when you first see or smell mold in your home.

Team SERVPRO Understands How to Remediate Mold Damage in Your Home

Mold damage occurs typically after a building has experienced water intrusion. It means to eliminate such challenges, stopping the source of the water should be the first step. After that, water extraction/removal and cleaning the affected items and surfaces follows. We are going to outline some of the techniques that professionals follow when attending to such incidents in Dublin.

When our SERVPRO technicians arrive at your property to address mold damage in Dublin, we begin by assessing the degree of damage and come up with a work plan. We know that mold can cause health effects and as a result, we use the relevant personal protective equipment. Some of the protective gear we use include cut-resistant and waterproof gloves, disposable earplugs, disposable coveralls, relevant protective head cover, work boots, and goggles. The N95 disposable respirator is usually recommended by OSHA when protecting against dust and mold.

During the remediation process, some of your contents may be restorable, and some may be unsalvageable. For instance, our SERVPRO technicians use cleaning solutions to wash non-porous contents such as metal, porcelain, jewelry, and glass. Depending on the situation, we can use a cleaning agent and a wet abrasive sponge to clean contaminated wood furnishing and later on do some refinishing.

We usually dispose of window conditioning units with some visible mold growth. By using anti-microbial detergents, we can clean the exterior parts of stereo equipment, TVs, and other expensive electronics that do not have running fans. It is also possible to salvage critical documents and photographs with minor levels of contamination by using damp paper towels and a detergent solution to wipe. By performing HEPA vacuuming, we can remove the mold and dust that settles on the floor when cleaning.

After cleaning your contents, our SERVPRO technicians must dry the area to prevent the mold damage situation from recurring. To enhance the drying process, we might set up air movers to circulate dry air within the structure. We can also perform dehumidification to remove humid air from the site. We do this by using a desiccant or refrigerant dehumidifiers.

At SERVPRO of Cheshire County, We're Faster To Any Size Disaster and our highly trained technicians use advanced cleaning and restoration equipment. Call us at (603) 352-7251 when you need a trusted industry leader to make it “Like it never even happened.”

Mold Damage Remediation Options for Residents of Walpole

6/11/2018 (Permalink)

Cleaning up mold on your property, thoroughly and safely, is what we are all about. Call SERVPRO right after seeing or smelling mold in your home.

Team SERVPRO Thoroughly Remediates a Mold Infestation at Your Home

After any water intrusion in your property, it is essential to dry the water-soaked contents and areas as soon as possible to prevent the possibility of mold damage. Most organic materials readily decompose after exposure to bacteria and mildew, which means you need to treat such situations with the urgency that they deserve to prevent further damage. We are providing some of the options that residents of Walpole should consider when they come across such an experience.

Our SERVPRO technicians understand moisture is the primary source of mold damage in your Walpole property. That is why we usually start by identifying and removing the source of the water. If the intrusion is coming from leaking plumbing, we fix the system as part of the remediation process. To prevent contamination and to spread the spores, we usually switch off ventilation, heating and HVAC systems that are on the site. If we notice that the filters of the HVAC systems are already contaminated, we can do a replacement.

It is the work of our SERVPRO technicians to remove both the non-contaminated and contaminated materials from the site before structural remediation starts. If we notice that porous materials such as carpets, ceiling tiles, and wallpaper have the contamination, we discard them off. In some instances, we use HEPA vacuuming to remove dust and spores from the surfaces of porous materials as long as they are dry and do not have any mold growth.

A combination of HEPA vacuuming, scrubbing, and scraping provides an option when cleaning and removing mold growth from semi-porous materials. If we are dealing with glass, tiles or any form of non-porous materials, we first scrub them before using any cleaning procedure. If the contamination was a result of sewage or floodwater, there might be a need to use disinfectants or biocides when cleaning.

Our SERVPRO technicians put contaminated materials in polyethylene bags to prevent spore dispersal, ready for disposal. Before we recommend any replacement, we carefully check on a material's structural integrity and level of contamination. After the remediation, we follow-up to be sure your home is back to its former state.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County is a trusted leader in mold remediation that offers 24-hour emergency services. Call us at (603) 352-7251 and learn more about the options that we offer.

Quickly Remediating The Mold In Your Dublin Home

Moisture Fuels Mold Infestations in Dublin, Call SERVPRO for Remediation

Professional Mold Treatments by SERVPRO Ensures the Desired Outcome

While you might not think of mold damage as a common threat to Dublin homes, these occurrences happen more often than you might believe. Since mold spores naturally occur in the environment at a microscopic level, the only factors missing from the equation to form mold colonies are moisture, organic food source, and warmth. With the humid environment, you might expect in New Hampshire throughout the warmer months of the year, many cases of mold growth have to get remediated.

While mold damage might present itself in several ways for your Dublin residence, every home is going to differ from another regarding severity and overall damages. You might have read on the internet about DIY methods for removing mold that gets discovered in your home, but the truth is, these methods are rarely effective enough to remove the problem entirely.

Our SERVPRO applied microbial remediation technicians get certified to the high restoration standards of the IICRC. Their ability to combat residential and commercial mold and fungal growth is a testament to the involved training process they undertake and their expertise in the field. This fact makes our team a wise choice for any present mold that you find in your home, as DIY methods rarely impact the entire mold organism and only clean off the surface growth, while also running the risk of spreading the infestation.

From the moment that our team arrives at your home, we seek moisture sources and then get to work quickly sectioning off the affected area with air scrubbers running HEPA filters. This equipment prevents spores from spreading out of this quarantined zone. While removal processes get underway, an antimicrobial solution gets applied to structural elements with porous makeups to penetrate and affect the entire hyphae. Sanding and soda blasting can also prove effective for removing mold colonies seated on surfaces throughout your home. The methods depend on the actual mold infestations found.

Mold cleanup is never something that you want to put off. The problem persists and moves to new areas, spreading the colonies farther and causing more damage. Trust in the experience of our remediation specialists at SERVPRO of Cheshire County to help you overcome this presence in your home and get things back to the way they used to be. Give us a call anytime at (603) 352-7251.

While this occurrence is not something that is widespread by any means, the reality is that it can happen to any home at any time in the right conditions. Combatting these environments can help to ensure that your house stays mold free, yet for many, they do not realize that they have the appropriate environment for fungal growth until they already have colonies forming.

Our SERVPRO mold remediation specialists get certified to the high standards of the IICRC. This training gives our technicians the latest methods and strategies for mold remediation for all varieties of mold and fungal growth. From the moment that our technicians arrive at your house, we begin sectioning off the affected area to prevent the spread of active spores to new areas of your home. This process involves shutting off your air conditioning or forced air heating and utilizing our negative air chamber and air scrubbing equipment to neutralize spores in the air.

Dehumidification is the next step to follow, which coincides with the removal of present colonies in the affected area. Our equipment deeply penetrates into the materials where the colonies seat, removing the entire organism and preventing further growth. Pulling the moisture from the air utilizes our large dehumidification equipment to efficiently do the job, though you might get encouraged to continue efforts on a smaller scale in this area of your home when the source of the moisture cannot get easily identified.

The Identification and Quarantine Processes for Mold Damage in Walpole

2/28/2018 (Permalink)

Containment Barriers and PPE--Personal Protection Equipment--Readies SERVPRO for Mold Remediation to Properties in Walpole

SERVPRO Establishes Containment Barriers During Mold Remediation Services

When SERVPRO representatives arrive at your home in Walpole to combat mold damage, the first thing they do is attempt to identify the source of the problem and establish a quarantine. From there, we can be relatively confident that mold cannot spread any farther in the home, and that we can concentrate our efforts on a smaller problem area. However, this is often easier said than done, as many quarantine arrangements can be complex and challenging to set up. Furthermore, locating the exact location and spread of mold is difficult without the aid of complex tools like moisture detecting thermohygrometers.

While you may have a general idea of where the mold damage to your Walpole home may have originated from, the nature of our work requires exact measurements, locations, and readings. Our moisture detection equipment and certified mold remediation training enable us to identify accurate locations, shapes, sizes, and spreads of fungal colonies in the home, even those that have not yet reached maturity and would be impossible to detect for the average homeowner. The focus of our work is to eliminate the threat of the mold, and without thorough detection, we cannot accomplish this goal. SERVPRO is a mold remediation company and not a mold assessor.

Once we have a clear picture of where the fungus is and how far it has spread, we can establish containment procedures for isolation purposes. By assembling plastic or poly sheeting, we can limit the migration of mold dust and spores into unaffected areas of the home. Depending on the size of the infestation, this can be over a single corner of a single room, a larger area, entire rooms at a time, or even the entire building. While we understand that quarantines can be an inconvenience for your household, they are essential if we hope to complete our work. We do our best to keep cleanup and remediation times to a minimum as we strive to make the entire process easier for you.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County provides mold remediation and related services to communities in the local area. If you have identified signs of mold damage in your home, contact us at (603) 352-7251.

Is Mold Damage Common During the Colder Months in Dublin?

1/10/2018 (Permalink)

Steam from a hot shower can cause mold damage.

The Different Ways Mold Can Grow During Winter Months

People often believe that mold only grows when temperatures are warmer, thinking that winter in Dublin is a “mold free” time. With nearly 100,000 different strains exhibiting different growth requirement, mold can take you by surprise. We offer strategies to correct conditions that encourage molds to multiply and have the skills and experience to remove current colonies.

A house buttoned up for the winter in Dublin ironically may provide better conditions for mold damage than the same dwelling in the summer. When windows and doors are tightly closed, your home has a harder time maintaining a balanced humidity level. The steam from cooking, showering, and laundering contributes the moisture needed for mold spores to activate and grow. Our mold remediation team employs EPA protocols to rid your home of existing mold and educated suggestions to reduce the risk of future infestations.

Another way mold takes hold during the winter relates to the level of insulation near your roof line and the condition of your gutters. If your upper interior spaces leak warm air because of inadequate insulation or missing seals along joints, any built up ice and snow in your gutters may melt, force itself under shingles, and leak into your attic or upper living spaces. The trapped slushy mixture is called an ice dam, and SERVPRO inspectors often identify the clogged problem area by noting the spectacular icicles hanging from the affected gutters and downspouts.

Water soaking into an attic may go unnoticed long enough for mold to grow, typically after 24 to 48 hours. As the water migrates downwards, the mold follows, finally becoming visible as staining or leathery or feathery colonies on ceilings or walls. SERVPRO remediation experts use moisture monitors and scanning devices to locate the dampness or hidden pockets of water feeding the mold damage.

We contain the moldy areas, using plastic sheeting and advanced technology like negative pressure air scrubbers that filter and vent the mold particle-filled air to the outside. Then SERVPRO technicians remove and bag the mold, including any porous building materials, fixtures, or personal possessions infiltrated with the fungi. The moldy debris is disposed of according to local regulations for hazardous waste.

Then the SERVPRO crew members review the various reasons mold is finding sufficient quantities of moisture, and make suggestions to reduce winter interior dampness significantly. Examples include using exhaust fans in the kitchen and bathroom, and ensuring that your clothes dryer vent is clear and exhausting to the outside. Eliminating ice dams include clearing and repairing gutters and downspouts while concurrently upgrading insulation and sealing heat leaks in your home’s upper levels.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County is your mold remediation partner every season of the year. Set up an evaluation and schedule the remediation by calling (603) 352-7251.

Stopping Mold Damage in Dublin

9/27/2017 (Permalink)

Moisture causes mold to grow along with a food source, such as drywall. If you discover mold growth on your walls, call SERVPRO to remediate.

How Mold Grows and Spreads in Your Home

Mold is nearly everywhere in Dublin. The only places you do not find its spores are surgical theaters and clean laboratory rooms. Fortunately, the mold is not a threat unless it has certain conditions.

Mold damage in a Dublin home happens when these spores come into contact with enough moisture and food at the right temperature range. Since that range is about 68 to 86 Degrees, that covers most homes in New Hampshire and around the country, year-round. To stop mold and restore the damage, SERVPRO technicians have studied each growth pattern and determined the best way to interrupt it.

Spores are dormant until they come into contact with water. It takes very little moisture to cause several to expand, extending hyphae out. These structures grow out over and into surfaces, searching for a food source like wood, cellulose, natural fibers like wool and cotton, and drywall. Since it is impossible to remove all of these materials, our technicians pull down and dispose of those pieces already infested.

The temperature range for mold growth is also the comfort range for homeowners, raising or lowering it past those levels is difficult and expensive. Those levels must be artificially maintained to prevent future growth, which would be even more challenging, especially in cooler months.

Because of these factors, SERVPRO concentrates on removing the moisture source and then cleaning existing mold. The source inside a home is usually from a dripping or otherwise damaged pipe. To find the source, we trace the mold growth to locate the starting point. It usually gives us the moisture source so we can identify it and repair the leak, be it a pipe or even minor damage to the roof. Our technicians can repair all of this, to include replacing a roof if needed.

Once we stop the leak, we use anti-microbial sprays to destroy the active spores. If we find infested building material, we remove and dispose of it. It is necessary to destroy the mold first as that lowers the chance of accidentally spreading spores as we remove the infested pieces from the house.

For more information on what SERVPRO of Cheshire County can do to clear your home of mold, call us today at (603) 352-7251. We are here for you through any other type of disaster.

Take Our Advice To Avoid Further Mold Damage In Rindge

8/1/2017 (Permalink)

Moisture and Mold Work Together to Damage Homes in Rindge--Get SERVPRO for Remediation

SERVPRO Tips Reduce the Re-occurrences of Mold Proliferation

Mold spores await just two substances to multiply and grow -- water and a supply of organic matter to eat. Limit one of them, and you keep microbial outbreaks from destroying your home. Talk to the experts in mold remediation at SERVPRO about helpful hints that keep mold from coming back.

When you survive an outbreak of mold, damage like this to your Rindge home is an experience you really prefer not to repeat. Take full advantage of both the experience and the expertise we hold with regard to mold and how it grows to take some practical steps that minimize the chance of it disturbing your life again after remediation.

First and foremost, realize that even an industry leader like SERVPRO can never remove all mold spores from your house. Mold spores are an essential part of our environment, breaking down organic material so that it can be used again as nourishment for plants in the world around us. Some fungi directly improve the lives of individuals, examples being medicines, yeast for bread and molds for cheeses. These organisms usually live in balance with humans, and we inhabit the same places constantly.

The only way to keep your home free of unwanted and destructive mold colonies is to reduce the moisture that activates the spores. Our managers are eager to discuss strategies with you to limit the exposure mold spores in your home have to water. SERVPRO technicians know that just a small amount of water and 24 to 48 hours is all it takes to give mold a head start.

We suggest that after a water intrusion, contact SERVPRO restoration professionals before those 48 hours expire. Ignoring leaks or simply letting flood water recede are two of the most common reasons mold flourishes in a home. Failing to investigate unusual earthy or musty odors also put your home at risk of mold outbreaks as the organisms do not need sunlight to grow. Hidden mold colonies under appliances, in closets or between walls are remediable if you act when that characteristic smell announces a problem.

SERVPRO also counsels homeowners to install and use exhaust fans, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers appropriately and consistently in humid conditions. Mold grows easily when the air humidity tops 70 percent. Collections of damp articles are also mold breeding places, such as piles of damp laundry, wet outerwear that is not allowed to dry out and spills that puddle up without mopping.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County has practical advice to keep you from becoming a repeat mold abatement customer. Give us a call at (603) 352-7251 for a consultation to reduce your risk.

A Quaint NH Town is here.

Is It Possible To Prevent Mold Damage To Your Jaffrey Home?

6/21/2017 (Permalink)

Mold Remediation in Jaffrey? Call SERVPRO

Not Totally, So Rely on SERVPRO for Professional Mold Remediation

Mold is a serious issue for homeowners. Mold looks unsightly, often gives off a distinctive and unpleasant odor, and can even cause health effects or damage to your house and your belongings. One thing mold loves is a damp environment, and high humidity can be a factor in providing such an environment. Now you might say that New Hampshire is not as humid as, say, Florida or Louisiana, and that is quite correct. However, New Hampshire can still get quite sticky, and it can certainly rain plenty, both of which conspire to create an ideal breeding ground for fungus.

Perhaps you wonder if it is possible to prevent mold damage to your Jaffrey home. It is important to know how mold functions. Mold spores are microscopic and are present in many places indoors and outdoors. Spores can easily enter your home on your clothing or footwear, or in the fur of a pet. Spores are everywhere.

Some cleanup companies claim they can remove mold; do not trust them. It is not possible to eliminate mold completely. That is why we recommend calling SERVPRO: Our IICRC-certified technicians understand the science of mold growth and how best to contain it.

Our professional teams have all the equipment necessary to thoroughly clean your home of mold, including HEPA vacuums, air scrubber machines, powerful detergents, and even fogging machines. We use a range of cleaning actions including vacuuming, scrubbing, wiping and dipping to deal with fungus.

After your SERVPRO visit, is there anything you can do to help prevent a recurrence of mold? Yes, there are some things. One of the most important things is to keep the humidity in your home below 45, which you can do using a dehumidifier. Our team uses dehumidifiers to dry out your home to an acceptable level before we leave and we use moisture meters and probes to be sure we have done a thorough job.

Keep an eye on all areas of your home and deal with any damp immediately. Your house needs adequate ventilation to discourage mold growth, and you might also consider using mold retardant paints in areas such as your bathroom, kitchen and laundry room. Sun filled rooms also discourage the growth of mold.

Although it is not possible to completely remove or prevent mold, you can discourage its growth by staying vigilant and by calling SERVPRO if you spot any growth. Contact SERVPRO of Cheshire County at (603) 352-7251 today for advice and assistance.

Does Your Cheshire County Home Have A Mold Problem?

4/14/2016 (Permalink)

Microscopic mold spores naturally occur almost everywhere, both outdoors and indoors. This makes it impossible to remove all mold from a home or business. Therefore, mold remediation reduces the mold spore count back to its natural or baseline level. Some restoration businesses advertise “mold removal” and even guarantee to remove all mold, which is a fallacy. Consider the following mold facts:

  • Mold is present almost everywhere, indoors and outdoors.
  • Mold spores are microscopic and float along in the air and may enter your home through windows, doors, or AC/heating systems or even hitch a ride indoors on your clothing or a pet.
  • Mold spores thrive on moisture. Mold spores can quickly grow into colonies when exposed to water. These colonies may produce allergens and irritants.
  • Before mold remediation can begin, any sources of water or moisture must be addressed. Otherwise, the mold may return.
  • Mold often produces a strong, musty odor and can lead you to possible mold problem areas.
  • Even higher-than-normal indoor humidity can support mold growth. Keep indoor humidity below 45 percent.

If your home or business has a mold problem, we can inspect and assess your property and use our specialized training, equipment, and expertise to remediate your mold infestation.
