The Role of a Dehumidifier

Water damage to a home or commercial property takes on a variety of different forms and levels of severity. From a toilet overflow to a burst pipe, a failed water heater, roof leak, ice maker supply line and so on. In each instance, the general scope of services for water mitigation is similar: Remove the excess water, remove heavily damaged building materials or belongings determined to be unsalvageable, and dry all affected areas. One of the key pieces of equipment used during the drying process are dehumidifiers.
The main role of the dehumidifier (or DH for short) is to remove moisture from the air. While air movers help to evaporate water/moisture, the DH turns the moist air into a liquid and then pumps the water out into a drain or collection bin. The DH takes in warm air which is sent through its coils by way of a fan. As the warm air passes through the cold coils of the DH, the moist air condenses and is turned into a liquid as previously mentioned. SERVPRO of Cheshire County has a variety of dehumidifiers for jobs of all sizes and severity.
During the warm, humid months of Summer, it is recommended to install and run a dehumidifier in damp parts of your home, specifically the basement, to greatly help reduce humidity levels which can help to prevent the colonization and growth of mold.
SERVPRO of Cheshire County is here to assist with water mitigation at your home or commercial property. Available 24/7 to make water damage "Like it never even happened."
