SERVPRO of Cheshire County has been serving the area since 1978. Locally owned and operated by the Paul family since 1988, our team quickly built a reputation as the most reliable provider of emergency restoration services following property damage caused by fire, smoke, or water damage. Around the clock availability, timely service, and professionally conducted processes were, and still are, the cornerstones of our organization.

In addition to fire and water cleanup and restoration, we provide clients with a variety of professionals services to be utilized within their residential or commercial properties.

Large properties, schools, office buildings, multiuse facilities, municipalities, etc. There are no projects too large for our team to handle. Literally.

Construction is the service we have added to our repertoire most recently. Being able to not only provide our clients with emergency mitigation services, but to provide construction following mitigation has been a goal of ours for many years. With the addition of key personnel and extensive training, we are proud to now offer this service.

30 Years in Westmoreland!

4/3/2023 (Permalink)

Exterior photo of large red building and several green trucks parked around the exterior. 2023 marks 30 years at our Westmoreland, NH location!

SERVPRO of Cheshire County has been providing Southwestern New Hampshire with industry-leading cleanup and restoration services since the late 1970s. When the franchise was taken over by the Paul Family, SERVPRO of Cheshire County shared a building with a local dog groomer on Court Street in Keene, NH. Having quickly outgrown the current location, Owner Richard Paul decided to move the business across town to Water Street. It wasn't long before the growing business outgrew the Water Street location and Paul was looking elsewhere for a larger building and a new location which would better accommodate the company's growing client base in Southern Vermont. What Paul found was a large red industrial building which would fulfill both needs. The decision was made in 1993 that SERVPRO of Cheshire County would be moving to Westmoreland, NH.

The location was great. Just off NH Route 12 with tremendous visibility, only 10 minutes outside of Keene, and easy access to Vermont, especially Interstate 91 which is a main north-south corridor within SERVPRO's Vermont territory. The building's space was a huge upgrade as well. SERVPRO was increasing personnel, equipment, cleaning products, and vehicles which the new space would better necessitate. The property required a lot of landscaping, tree removal and sprucing up. The building interior went through changes as well including small renovations, remodeling, and reconfiguring. This was all being done as SERVPRO continued to provide services to its clients.

It took a lot of hard work and patience, but the move to the new location in Westmoreland was just what the company needed. The business continued to grow and expand. Now with Ryan and Derek Paul at the helm, a satellite location has been added in Ascutney, VT to better serve the Vermont market. That move 30 years ago was an integral part of the success of SERVPRO of Cheshire County, and we look forward to what the future holds!

45 Years: Serving the Area Since 1978!

1/23/2023 (Permalink)

Logo celebrating 45 years in business. Thank you to our clients and community for supporting our business for 45 years!

We are happy to announce that 2023 marks 45 years SERVPRO of Cheshire County has provided emergency cleanup and restoration services to southwestern New Hampshire! Founded in 1978, SERVPRO of Cheshire County began primarily as a cleaning and janitorial service and eventually evolved into the area's leader in disaster restoration.

In 1988, SERVPRO of Cheshire County was purchased by Richard and Susan Paul and was based out of Keene, NH. In 1993, headquarters were moved to our current location in Westmoreland, NH. In early 2002, Ryan Paul came aboard as a Project Manager, and in late 2003, Derek Paul joined the family business as a Marketing Representative. The staff has grown over the years, technology has improved and methods and products within the industry have become more advanced. Our staff continues to obtain new certifications while training within the different services we provide. Our staff works incredibly hard and total customer satisfaction is their goal.

Community involvement and support is also very important to us. As we are locally owned and operated, we care deeply about giving back to our local community. We proudly participate by way of sponsorships, fundraisers, charities, events, educational and athletic programs, and local associations to name a few.

In 2015, Ryan and Derek Paul became minority owners of the company, handling more of the day-to-day operations. To better serve our clients in Southern Vermont, we added a second office location in Ascutney, VT in 2018. And in the Fall of 2021, the two brothers officially took over full ownership, while Richard and Susan transitioned into retirement. This past fall, Ryan and Derek celebrated 1 year of their full ownership.

We are beyond grateful for how far our business has come in 45 years. We are thankful for our staff, our community and of course, our clients. We look forward to providing the same quality of service to those who need us well into the future! Thank you for your support for the past 45 years!

Why SERVPRO? Professionally Trained and Certified Staff

Room of students receiving training from instructor. Training and education are equally important and essential in the world of emergency cleanup and restoration.

Two areas in which we pride ourselves here at SERVPRO of Cheshire County are training and education. The world of emergency cleanup and restoration is constantly evolving. Techniques for mitigating fire and water damage are updating, products are improving, and equipment is regularly changing for the better. It is important to stay on top of these advancements so we can better and more effectively serve our clients when they need us.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County team members receive hands on training for fire and water damage restoration. Additionally, our production team, as well as members from our admin and estimating staff, attend courses in these areas of emergency restoration to become certified by the IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning & Restoration Certification). It is important for each person within the organization to be familiar with and educated in the science of emergency cleanup and restoration whether it be a result from fire, smoke, water, mold, trauma, or sewer damage.

Having a staff that is trained and certified in these areas allows us to better serve our clients. One more reason why SERVPRO of Cheshire County is the best choice for emergency cleanup and restoration.

2022 Collaborative Food Drive!

12/29/2022 (Permalink)

Two men standing on either side of large cardboard boxes. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this year's Collaborative Food Drive such a success!

Back in November of 2014, we launched what is now referred to as our SERVPRO Collaborative Food Drive. The idea behind the drive was to try and make it easier for businesses and community members to collect and donate non-perishable food items to local food banks. We deliver collection boxes to local businesses that would like to participate, and we return 2-3 weeks later to pick up the boxes. We then load all the boxes into one of our trucks and deliver them to either the NH or VT food banks.

Back in 2014, we were joined by seven gracious local businesses who contributed to our inaugural campaign. We were well on our way and considered the first effort to be a huge success.

After stepping away from the food drive in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, we decided it was time to bring the event back for 2022. We were blown away by the support and involvement by our friends and business partners throughout the community. Over 30 local businesses, and 1 school, joined in for this year's event! We're extremely excited to report that with the collaborative effort of these community partners, we were able to donate a total of 2,054 pounds of food! Over 1 ton! This is all thanks to the support of these local businesses and schools!

We're so thankful to be a part of such a generous and thoughtful community. Thank you to all that supported the event, and we can't wait to do it all over again in 2023!

Paul Brothers Focused on Continuing Longstanding “Family Tradition”

SERVPRO of Cheshire County, NH is pleased to announce Ryan Paul and Derek Paul as our new owners. The Paul brothers recently took over majority ownership of the franchise which was previously owned by their parents, Richard and Susan Paul.

Ryan and Derek began their career at SERVPRO working during school breaks and eventually started their full-time roles with the company in 2002 and 2003, respectfully. In addition to their ownership roles, Ryan manages & oversees company production and project management, while Derek focuses on marketing, as well as community involvement with local chambers of commerce and various non-profit organizations. Both Ryan and Derek earned degrees from Keene State College and live locally in Cheshire County. The Paul brothers are looking forward to providing the same industry-leading service the local community has come to know and expect for years to come.

This franchise, which was originally known as SERVPRO of Keene, opened back in 1978. The business was purchased in 1988 by Richard & Susan Paul, at which point it was decided to pivot from primarily providing cleaning and janitorial services to placing more emphasis on disaster cleanup and restoration to both commercial and residential customers.

“Having the opportunity to lead this business alongside by brother is equal parts exciting and immense,” explains new co-owner Derek Paul. “It is important for our business to keep progressing while also honoring the sturdy foundation my parents, Richard & Susan, built in our community.”

Fellow incoming new Co-Owner, Ryan Paul adds, “I look back on my 20 years with SERVPRO and several factors have led to our success and growth—a solid foundation, development of relationships, and a dedicated team created by Richard & Susan in the beginning, which Derek and I continued when we came on board. I want to thank Richard, Susan, Derek, and all our team members for their dedication to our growth and continued success. I would also like to thank my wife, Melissa, who came on board with SERVPRO in 2011; she has been an incredible asset to our team.”

SERVPRO of Cheshire County is a proud member of the community, providing cleanup and restoration services following a fire, water, or mold-related damage. SERVPRO is trusted by national insurance clients nationwide that seek superior and timely restoration services.

Types of Smoke Damage: Identification & Restoration

11/16/2021 (Permalink)

Soot residue on a ceiling and an area that has been cleaned. Smoke type determination is of the utmost importance in successfully restoring a property following a fire.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County is the area's leader in fire and smoke restoration. Our technicians are trained and undergo industry approved training courses to learn best practices when it comes to mitigating fire & smoke damage in a commercial or residential property. A vital part of the fire and smoke restoration process is identifying the specific type of smoke that was present in the property. Determining the type of smoke will determine the proper cleaning and restoration method to be carried out.

  • Wet Smoke: (Plastic and Rubber). Low heat, smoldering, pungent odor, sticky, and smeary. Smoke webs are more difficult to clean.
  • Dry Smoke: (Paper and Wood). Fast-burning, high temperatures; heat rises, therefore smoke rises.
  • Protein Fire Residue: (Produced by evaporation of a material rather than from a fire). Virtually invisible, discolors paints and varnishes, extreme pungent odor.
  • Fuel Oil Soot (Furnace puff backs). While "puff backs" can create havoc for homeowners, SERVPRO franchise professionals can, in most cases, restore the contents of a structure quickly.
  • Other Types: (Tear gas, fingerprint powder, and fire extinguisher residue). Special loss situations require special care.

SERVPRO of Cheshire County professionals are experts in smoke identification and restoration. Another reason why SERVPRO makes fire & smoke restoration "Like it never even happened."

Upon looking into it, we discovered that a 2.25 mile stretch of Route 12, near our NH office was not claimed by any other local business. So we decided to adopt it! At least a couple times a year, our crew heads out on the roadside to retrieve trash and debris all along this stretch.

Last week, members of our SERVPRO of Cheshire County Team shifted their focus to property cleanup and restoration, to the roadside! It was time for the Spring cleanup for our stretch of "Sponsor A Highway" on Route 12 in Westmoreland! Making roadside trash "Like it never even happened."

Why SERVPRO? Preparation & Protection

PREPARATION & PROTECTION: During the restoration process of fire, water, smoke, mold, biohazard or sewer damage, often times demolition of affected building materials is necessary to properly mitigate the affected areas. The professionals at SERVPRO of Cheshire County are able to inspect and determine which areas will require demolition or removal. In these situations, it is equally as important to cover and protect areas not affected, so they are not damaged during demolition.  In these cases, SERVPRO of Cheshire County technicians will carefully cover floors, flat surfaces, furniture, cabinets, countertops and other parts of the property prior to demolition. Following demolition, a thorough cleanup of the work area is performed and at the conclusion of the project, the coverings are removed.

Another reason why SERVPRO of Cheshire County is Southwestern New Hampshire’s leader in emergency cleanup and restoration!

Certified: SERVPRO Cleaned is a cleaning and disinfecting program that SERVPRO offers to commercial locations to address the current COVID-19 pandemic. This pandemic has changed what it means to be clean and being open for business is just the beginning of everyone’s new journey forward. Employees may be hesitant to return to work, and customers may wonder whether the businesses they visit are safe. If a building or structure is sanitized and disinfected as part of the CSC program, a window decal shield will be left there, as well as a separate window decal which should be dated by the franchise to let everyone know when it was last sanitized and disinfected. This can be scheduled as a one time or recurring service. This is a level of clean that goes way beyond janitorial or carpet cleaning, it is proactive viral pathogen cleaning. Beyond fire and water, SERVPRO professionals are trained and experienced in bio hazard decontamination. When businesses choose SERVPRO, their employees, customers, and community can rest assured that they have selected a “higher standard of clean.”

Mold in Your Rental Property? Here's What to Do

1/24/2020 (Permalink)

picture of three men wearing face masks, two of the men in the background one closest to camera holding clipboard If one of your properties needs mold removal services give our team a call at (603) 352-7251.

As a landlord, you are responsible for providing a safe, comfortable environment for your tenants, which is why calls about potential mold damage can be scary. Fortunately, by knowing what to do if you know or suspect mold to be present in your rental property, you can fulfill your responsibilities smoothly. Here is a little more information about mold and how to manage this situation as a landlord.

Understanding & Resolving Mold Issues

How Are Mold Issues Diagnosed?

Since mold and mildew can create visible discolorations, landlords may hear reports of green, black, or brown mold on walls, ceilings, or within bathroom areas. Other tenants may suspect mold based on moldy or musty smells in their homes. All mold reports should be taken seriously, and remediation handled ASAP to stop the mold in its tracks and prevent further damage.

To verify the presence of mold, to pinpoint the severity of mold presence in a property and to zero in on the problem areas where mold is thriving, having an indoor air quality assessment is often the best first course of action. Getting this mold inspection done provides our abatement team with helpful information about the pathogens, including which varieties are present and how much work it will entail to remove the spores and treat the affected areas.

How Is Mold Removed?

During the mold removal process, professionals take every necessary precaution to avoid spreading the pathogens. When the mold removal process begins, the team creates a negative air pressure system to vent air and any mold spores outdoors during abatement. Next, the areas are sprayed down with a special antiseptic solution to kill mold and keep it from spreading, and then the impacted areas are removed if needed.

Mold removal is never something you as a landlord should attempt, nor should you encourage tenants to handle it on their own. Call our team and we will follow the latest industry guidelines to get rid of the mold safely and efficiently.

If one of your properties needs mold removal, don’t hesitate to reach out to SERVPRO of Cheshire County in Westmoreland, NH. With a focus on safety and a commitment to customer service, our team handles mold inspection, containment, and removal as well as remediation for smoke and flood damage and 24/7 emergency services. To find out more, give our office a call at (603) 352-7251.

Residential Water Damage in Southwestern NH

3/28/2019 (Permalink)

Both the Kitchen and the Finished Basement Were Affected

When an appliance breaks, sometimes it can cause a large amount of damage in your home. Recently, we were called to a home in Southwestern NH after a dishwasher malfunction in the kitchen caused water damage to the cabinetry and flooring on the main level. The homeowner came home one day to unfortunately find a large amount of water on his kitchen floor. The water also traveled through the kitchen floor and into the finished basement, damaging the basement ceiling and flooring there as well. Fortunately, this issue was at least spotted before further damage could take place. Strategic demolition, cleanup and installation of drying equipment was needed to mitigate the damage. When our crew was finished, the structure was cleaned up and dried for a contractor to put back together.

Have Storms Left you Feeling Underwater in your Keene Home?

11/8/2018 (Permalink)

Flooding from storms can occur at any time. SERVPRO has the equipment and expertise to help restore your home.

How Professionals Overcome Flooding in Your Keene Home

When disasters strike your Keene residence, you want assurances that qualified and highly-trained professionals can help you to restore the damages your home has sustained. In instances like flooding, the widespread effects throughout your home require an immediate response to help minimize the effects on the contents and materials of the house.

Overcoming flood damages in your Keene home requires a restoration company that has sought to provide the industry-leading equipment to shorten the times of restoration and makes the process more useful than ever before. Our SERVPRO franchise has sought to maintain the best possible equipment with the most advanced technologies to provide you with the satisfaction that the restoration is efficient and thorough.

Regarding flood damages, our water extraction equipment like truck mounted and gas-powered pumps provide fast extraction from your home anywhere that water has pooled. Drying the area involves even more of our advanced equipment, beginning with our high-speed air movers to force moisture out of materials and causing it to evaporate at an expedited rate. These machines get used in conjunction with our industrial grade dehumidifiers, which range in size based on the severity of the damage, to pull water vapor from the air.

Overcoming these effects in your home cannot fall exclusively to advanced equipment alone, however. Every one of our SERVPRO water restoration technicians is a highly trained addition to the team. From the IICRC training required to be a certified water restoration technician to continued educational opportunities to improve their skills and techniques in the field through Employee Certification Training programs. With this continued training and educational effort, each technician can do a fast and effective job in restoring water-damaged properties.

Flood damages can affect multiple homes and properties simultaneously, so securing the right professional assistance is critical. If you are dealing with the devastating effects of a flood in your home, be sure to contact our SERVPRO of Cheshire County response team to help. You can reach us anytime by calling (603) 352-7251.
